I am an artist from the Dominican Republic, where I first studied fine art and developed my artistic foundations. My interest in visual expression later led me to New York, where I studied illustration, before continuing my education in the United Kingdom, where I studied architecture and where I am currently based.
Since childhood, I have been fascinated by art and architecture and their creative possibilities. I remember telling my mother at the age of six or seven that I wanted to become a painter, a sculptor, and an architect. That early ambition became the starting point of my lifelong commitment to artistic practice.
During my early art studies, when I was around fourteen years old, I came across a quote from the British sculptor Henry Moore: “The head and the hands are the most expressive parts of the human body, and therefore they should be treated differently from the rest of the figure.” That idea has stayed with me ever since.
My work focuses primarily on portraiture and the human figure, exploring the tensions and desires that shape human relationships. Working across different media, I seek to reveal the hidden emotions and desires within the portrait, creating figurative images that move between representation and abstraction.
Through my work, I aim to create emotionally resonant and politically charged images that invite reflection on identity, vulnerability, and the complexities of contemporary life.
